DABA Match

DABA Match is a Chrome extension that tells you whether a product shown on a retailer’s product page — a power tool, camera, printer, PC part, appliance, bike part, vacuum accessory or car part — fits something you already own.

The short version. DABA Match sends nothing to anyone, with one exception: activating a pass you’ve paid for. There is no account and no analytics. Nothing else you do in the extension leaves your computer.

What is stored

The list of items you add to your garage — tools, batteries, cameras, printers, PC parts, appliances, bikes, vacuums or cars — plus any custom names you give them, your market preference, and your pass status: how many of your 5 free checks you’ve used, and (once you’ve bought one) which pass you’re on and when it expires. This is held in your browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own machine.

You can see everything stored by opening the extension popup — that list is the entirety of it. Removing an item deletes it. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it.

What is read, and not kept

On the retailer pages listed in the extension’s Chrome Web Store description, DABA Match reads the product title of the page you are viewing, in order to work out which product it is. That reading happens inside your browser and lasts as long as the page is open. The title is not stored, not logged, and not transmitted.

The compatibility catalog the title is compared against is bundled inside the extension itself. Checking a product does not involve contacting anyone.

Passes and payment

DABA Match is free for 5 product checks. After that, checking a product requires a pass — weekly, monthly, or yearly — sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record. DABA Match never sees your card details or billing information; Lemon Squeezy’s own checkout page collects those directly, under Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy, not this one.

When you activate a pass — pasting the license key your purchase emailed you and tapping Activate — the extension sends that key to Lemon Squeezy’s License API to confirm it’s genuine and find out when it expires. This is the only network request DABA Match ever makes, and it happens only when you take that action, never automatically and never on a timer. The result (which pass, and its expiry date) is then stored locally like everything else in this policy.

What is not collected

No personal information. No names, email addresses, or accounts. No card or billing information — Lemon Squeezy collects that, not DABA Match, and only at the moment you buy a pass. No location. No browsing history. No page content beyond the one product title read to answer your question. No advertising or tracking identifiers of our own, and no cookies are set or read by DABA Match itself.

DABA Match contains no advertising and no third-party code or analytics libraries. It does contain affiliate links — see the next section.

Affiliate disclosure

DABA Match participates in affiliate programmes: Amazon Associates, AliExpress, and Temu. Where the extension shows a compatible alternative you don’t already own, that item may link out to a retailer through one of these programmes, and DABA Match may earn a commission if you buy something after following it — at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed in the extension’s own interface as well, not just here.

Following an affiliate link takes you to the retailer’s own site, where their privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours. DABA Match’s own compatibility check never depends on whether a link is tagged: the verdict is the same either way.

Sharing

Nothing is collected, so nothing is shared, sold, or transferred to anyone — except the one license-key check described above, sent to Lemon Squeezy only when you activate a pass you’ve bought, and used by them for nothing but confirming that purchase. This does not change if the extension changes hands.

Children

DABA Match is a shopping tool and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If a future version adds anything that leaves your machine — a sync feature, for example — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the extension’s Web Store listing. The version of this policy that applies is the one dated above.
